The Story of Mercy Seat Parish

Mercy Seat Parish was established as a branch of Kingdom Harvest Gospel Ministry with one clear mandate: to bring the presence and mercy of God to Tanke, Jalala, and the surrounding communities of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.

The parish was born out of a deep burden to see people encounter God in a personal, transforming, and lasting way. From its earliest days, the congregation has been marked by fervent prayer, a hunger for the Word of God, and genuine love for one another. What began as a small fellowship of committed believers has grown into a recognised community of faith in the Tanke area of Ilorin.

The Name: Mercy Seat

The name "Mercy Seat" was not chosen lightly. In the Old Testament, the Mercy Seat was the sacred gold covering on top of the Ark of the Covenant. It was the place where God's presence dwelt among His people, where the high priest came once a year on the Day of Atonement to sprinkle blood and seek forgiveness for the nation of Israel. It was a place of encounter, of atonement, of mercy triumphing over judgment.

We believe this parish carries that same spiritual identity. Every service, every prayer meeting, every programme at KHGM Mercy Seat is an invitation for people to encounter the mercy of God personally. No matter what a person has done or where they have been, there is mercy available here.
